We were in Las Vegas recently for WPPI. When you travel as much as the Tamron tech staff does, it’s often hard to find time to actually make pictures. So, when we took a break for lunch, I decided to take my camera along and to see what presented itself along the way.
I’m sure you know Las Vegas is a gigantic set piece of visual candy. Magnificent hotels, pirate ships, canals and so much more that almost overwhelms the eye. I am always challenged to look beyond the overall effect and to see the details that make up a scene. I believe that inside every interesting image, many other interesting image details exist. So, I decided to look for unique individual segments rather than just trying to take in everything.
It’s amazing what you find when you allow yourself to just see.
1) Concrete patterns in the side of the MGM Grand
2) Light coming through palm trees and shrubs
3) Lion
4) Sentinels
5) Street performers
6) Skylines
7) Hotel room window shot
8) Unique light sources that change everything
All of these occurred in just two blocks and less than 20 minutes!
Note: the sun had already set behind the mountains and building to the west. But, strangely, I found a stretch of street that had exceptionally strong side light illuminating events. There is something to remember here: in almost every light, every other kind of light exists. You just have to look for it and use it.
