After hiking some of the more difficult trails in Zion National Park earlier in the week, I decided to take it a little easy and go to Canyon Overlook. This is one of my favorite hikes in the park, though it is not very long it does have some great scenery to photograph along the way. It also gives me a chance to pack light and give my back a rest, in this case, one camera and one lens (the Tamron 18-270mm VC). This lens never ceases to amaze me every time I use it. In the following images I wanted to show examples of how powerful a 15x zoom really is. 18-270mm & 15x are just numbers and impossible to visualize, but with these images taken from the cliffs overlooking Zion Valley you get a sense of how powerful it really is. The Bonus to this lens is also the VC (Vibration Compensation). It allowed me to leave my tripod back at the hotel, which everyone who knows me knows how hard that is for me to do!
